The Parish Nursing Project

Come and meet Nicola Hobson, (pictured above), our new Parish Nurse. Her clinic will be straddling our weekly coffee mornings on Fridays from 9.00 until 12.00 to talk to you about your health and well being. Confidentiality will be paramount.

Nicola is a registered nurse who also works for the NHS at one of the big teaching hospitals in Leeds, but she wanted to give something back to her local community and support local people who want to live well and keep healthy. She will be working closely with local health providers, charities and churches.

Her job is to support people to live in a way that promotes ‘whole person health care’. That means not just looking after our physical and mental well being, but our spiritual, emotional and social well being too. In other words, Nicola can talk to us about anything which is making us feel less well and how to feel more well. She can also signpost us to the right people if we need specialist help.

Her post has been funded through the generosity of the Methodist Church, the Big Lottery and Live Well Wakefield, which is funded by the South West Yorkshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust working in partnership with Nova Wakefield District, a voluntary organisation that supports local voluntary and community projects across the City and the towns and villages surrounding it.

The project is also supported by Parish Nursing UK, and you can find out more about how parish nurses work at https://parishnursing.org.uk/about-us/
